Empowering Students Through Hands-On Career Exploration
The York Builders Association Workforce NOW Foundation is proud to spotlight Kellin McCullough, College & Career Coordinator at Dallastown Area School District. Kellin has served on the Foundation’s board for three years, helping to connect students with real-world opportunities in the skilled trades.
Why She Got Involved:
“Over the last couple of years, I have seen the growth of the Foundation. I want to continue to be a part of that growth – to reach more students and empower them to take control of their future. Locally and nationally, we need skilled trades men and women. The Foundation can help students make those connections.”
What She’s Most Passionate About:
“I see a growing need for students to test-drive opportunities before they decide on a path. The Foundation offers excellent hands-on experiences and incredible networking opportunities, helping students discover what fits them best. I love the pre-apprenticeship program. It’s a quality experience that truly inspires students to see what’s possible for their future while building real skills and connections.”
A Moment That Stands Out:
“After going through the pre-apprenticeship program, a student said to me, ‘I’m really proud of myself. I feel like I belong.’ That’s what the Foundation creates – spaces where students gain confidence, purpose, and a sense of belonging while exploring their future. I was overcome with joy that I can help play a small role in students’ success!”
Why It Matters:
“Skilled trades offer pathways to rewarding, high-demand careers where students can earn, learn, and grow without overwhelming debt. It’s a chance for young people to build a stable, meaningful future while using their talents in hands-on, impactful work.”
Final Thought:
“Supporting the Foundation means investing in the next generation of leaders and skilled professionals. It’s about giving students real opportunities to discover their strengths and find a path that makes them proud.”
We’re incredibly grateful to have Kellin as a YBA Workforce NOW Foundation Board member and so appreciative of the time, insight, and passion she brings to helping students build brighter futures.
